The Band

David Ringler (vocals)

What can I say? Dave is a true performer in every sense of the word. Dave combines a vocal prowess and captivating stage presence not seen in these parts for a very long time. People get too caught up trying to compare him to other singers out there but I think any comparison would be unfair. To me he sounds like David Ringler, period. I think it is his charisma, song lyrics and use of melody that really draw people to the band. But don't take my word for it. I have read a review of the band that said Dave, "slightly resembled a crazed maniac who may be in need of a straightjacket." Like I said, charisma...

Beau Bodine (bass, acoustic guitar, background vocals)

Beau is the secret weapon of Isle of Q. Although he tries to remain as anonymous as possible any true fan realizes that he is the driving force of the creative process. Be it his behind the scenes skills as songwriter, engineer, mixer and producer, or his on stage skills as background singer, two handed, slap and riffing bass player that make it very difficult in deed for him to remain anonymous.

Equipment: SWR speaker cabinets with an Ampeg (?) tube head. Two G&L basses; one with a mahogany looking finish and the other one with a white finish. He also used to play what I think is called a Kubicki Key Factor Four bass with the active pickups and the reverse stringing with the lever to drop the E string to a D on the fly.

Props: Severed dummy heads as seen on the album cover on top of his bass rig.

Douglas Kennedy (lead electric and acoustic guitars)

Doug’s guitar playing is truly inspiring, not so much in the "guitar hero" sense of the word, but rather for his tasteful use of notes. Doug has the ability to overplay but the intelligence not to as witnessed by his lack of rock guitar cliches. Anyone who has spoken to Doug knows that he is the nicest guy who always goes out of his way to make the fans seem welcome. During every intermission he makes a point of going around and saying hello to everybody he knows as well as making new friends. But if you know Doug you know that he has a twisted wit that could easily land him a spot as a late night game show host for an obscure cable company. Doug, never change.

Equipment: Gibson Les Paul Custom (black) named "Ruby Soho", Fender "Big Apple" Stratocaster (classic white w/ tortoiseshell pickguard), yellow and black Fender Stratocaster (his original guitar). Marshall 4 x 12 speaker cabinet. Note that the two "L's" from Marshall has been taped over to make the amp say Marsha. If you look closely you will see a picture of Maureen McCormik (sic) from the Brady Bunch on his amp. He uses a head made by Yamaha Pacifica in conjunction with Soldano. He used to play a black Gibson Les Paul Studio, two Yamaha Pacifica guitars as well as a Japanese Fender Stratocaster simply called the "Strat."

Props: He used to have a severed arm that fit between his amps, but he has since forsaken the dark imagery for a cleaner family-oriented image using the characters from the Frosty the Snowman Christmas Special. Doug also keeps a picture of Darren McGavin as the Nightstalker on his amp. He also appears to be alternating a Dr. Zaius doll from Planet of the Apes and a Scooby Doo doll. To see a picture of his rig and some of the props click here.

Personal and Trivia: Birthday: April 2 Favorite Musical Artists: Todd Rundgren/Utopia, Rush, Nik Kershaw, The Pursuit of Happiness, Jellyfish and Kate Bush.

Doug has and older brother and sister, and is obsessed with old horror and monster movies. Rumor has it that he has created a lot of really cool music outside of the "Q" - real ethereal instrumental pieces.

Josh Cedar (drums)

Actually I never really pay much attention to drummers. I always thought that the bigger your kit the better drummer you were. Josh certainly proved me wrong. Josh had the unenviable task of playing songs that were written before he joined the band thus forcing him to copy other drummers' lines. However, Josh is able to inject his own unique styling to the old songs as witnessed by his excellent use of syncopation on "Driving Nails." Josh continues to make his mark with the new songs by adding his own stamp of creativity. Josh looks like he is having way too much fun out there playing the drums.

Props: The "Bumble" doll from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas special. Hey Josh, you got a problem with the misfit toys!?
